http://img.qj.net/uploads/articles_m...ide.jpg?173849The PlayStation Portable is already in its third year of existence, but it looks like fans of the handheld can look forward to at least seven more years of PSP love from Sony.

Talking to Pocket Gamer, Zeno Colaco, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's vice president of publisher and developer relations, revealed that a ten-year lifespan is "certainly the long-term plan" for the handheld.

"We definitely have the ambition for it to feature very strongly in the future, both on its own and also complimentary to PlayStation Network environment and the PS3," said Colaco. "But we'll have to wait a while before we can fully reveal the direction we're going in."

The handheld's direction has been a point of contention recently, with publishers like Ubisoft urging Sony to come out with a clear plan of action for the PSP. So far, it looks Sony is banking on strong network services to convince devs and publishers that there is still money to made on the PSP, something that Colaco says will become apparent "over the next two years".
